From the Green Valley Board of Directors

Message from the Board

Green Valley Bible Camp has a long history--since 1965--of positive influence on scores and scores of young people. The decisions we make as a Board are centered on ensuring that that influence continues for years to come.

Our aim is to provide a week filled with wholesome experiences both spiritual and physical. Each camp session is directed by a seasoned volunteer leader from congregations in Arkansas, Missouri and Oklahoma that brings with him a dedicated group of Counselors and volunteer workers. Camp activities include Bible classes, devotions, singing, recreational activities, fellowship activities, personal quiet time, and of course a nightly worship service. We accept children regardless of ethnicity, gender, national origin, disability, race, physical appearance, religion or socio-economic background. We do not require any specific religious affiliation.

We hope you will choose the GVBC experience for your children and encourage other parents/guardians to do the same. It's likely to be a week they will never forget as described to us by many hundreds and hundreds of current and past attendees.

To all who have shared in this ministry each and everyone who has directed, counseled, volunteered, cooked meals, readied the facilities, processed paperwork, kept the website updated and the payment process functioning, given donations, reached out to kids in their community who otherwise would have no hope of attending camp, and many other contributors--we will always be grateful.

Statement of Faith

This Statement of Faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purposes of the Camp’s faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, our Board of Directors is the Camp’s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s application.

God

We believe God exists eternally in three persons - The Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) Matthew 28:19; John 14:16-26).

Bible

We believe the Bible is the Holy Spirit inspired Word of God, without error and preserved for our instruction. It is God breathed (1 Corinthians 2:7-14; 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21).

Salvation

We believe we can be restored to a relationship with God only through the blood of Jesus Christ. This restored relationship is based on God’s grace, not our efforts. We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ (Acts 3:19-21; Roman10:9-10; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11). Repenting from our past life, confession of Christ as Lord, baptism by immersion, to receive the Holy Spirit and for the forgiveness of sins, are the primary responses of our faith that are modeled for us in the New Testament (John 3:1-21; Acts 2:37-39; Acts 8:26-39; Acts 10:1-48; Acts 16:11-34; Acts 22:2-16; Romans 3:21-31; Romans 5:6-11; Romans 6:1- 23)

Lord’s Supper

We believe in celebrating the hope of the resurrection and remember what Christ has done for us; we take this weekly (Acts 20:7).

Return of Jesus

We believe Jesus will be returning personally, bodily, and visibly just as He ascended to call all those who are faithful (Revelation 22:12; Hebrews 9:28; 1 Thess. 4:15-17).

Sexuality

We believe God wonderfully creates each person to be a man or a woman. The two distinct, complementary sexes together reflect the image and nature of God (Genesis 1:26-27). We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, cohabitation, homosexual behavior, rejection of one’s biological sex, or use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God (Matt. 15:18-20; 1 Cor. 6:9-10).

Sanctity of Life

We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life (Psalms 139).

Marriage

The term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture (Genesis 2:18-25). Marriage between a man and a woman uniquely reflects Christ’s relationship with His Church (Ephesians 5:21-23). God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other (1 Corinthians 6:18; 1 Corinthians 7:2-5; Hebrews 13:4).

Treating Others

We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31). Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be rejected and are not in accord with Scripture nor the doctrines of this organization.
